Transformative Repair

On Friday, November 19, a Transformative Repair workshop takes place at the Department of Informatics (IFI), Gaustadalléen 23b, Oslo, 3rd floor in and around Sonen (follow the arrows).

Jürgen Breiter, urban curator and upcycler, will work with materials found at the Department. Join him to create usable and nice things from stuff that was deemed broken or unusable.

The workshop will also give participants the opportunity to repair your own stuff. We have specialised tools available for the repair of mobile phones, laptops, and other electronic stuff, but you have to bring your own spare parts. Sonen’s Krister Borge can advise you how to go about it.

Gently pull up on the suction cup to lift up the bottom edge of the display.

Use the point of a spudger to pry the battery connector out of its socket in the logic board.

We also have an easy-to-use sewing machine ready if your pants need a new zipper or another type of repair. We are great supporters of visible mending. Also here you need to bring your own repair materials.

There will also be three short courses in soldering, a handy skill to have when you want to repair electronics. Please register for one of the courses here.
